U.S. Steel Serbia becomes Zelezara Smederevo

U.S. Steel Serbia has changed its name to Zelezara Smederevo d.o.o. Smederevo.

The Smederevo city assembly agreed on Monday to allow the use of the city's name in the steel mill's new name.

The assembly also decided to form a working group that would inventory the realties used by the plant that are important for the city and request that the government place them at Smederevo's disposal free of charge. The Smederevo assembly had one point on the agenda for the Monday meeting, which was to decide whether to allow U.S. Steel Serbia to use the city's name. U.S. Steel Serbia had filed an urgent request that the local government allow it to use Smederevo in its name.
