Panasonic will stay in Svilajnac, expand its production and hire additional 100 workers until the year's end, it was said at Thursday's meeting of representatives of this company with United Regions of Serbia leader Mladjan Dinkic and Svilajnac Mayor Gorica Dimcic Tasic.

Dinkic said at the meeting that Panasonic planned to install the latest technology line within the next two months and employ another 100 workers until the end of 2012, whereas Svilajnac Mayor stressed that the future and progress of Svilajnac was inextricably linked with Panasonic, adding that the municipality would do everything to provide conditions for good operations.

After examining several locations in Serbia, Panasonic decided in 2008 to open its first production facility in our country in Svilajnac, where it currently operates in rented halls and produces elements for LED lighting and employs about 50 workers. Panasonic plans to have its own production hall built in Svilajnac and increase the number of employees this year.
